HATHA YOGA

Yoga is not a sport, though many people recognise it as such. It is a thousand years old philosophy and a system of practice, where hatha yoga- physical exercise- is only one of its aspects.

Hatha means literally sun and moon as the name relates to two main nadis (energy channels) in the human body: ida (left one, related to moon) and pingala (right, related to the sun). Yoga means to yoke, or to join two things together. Hatha yoga is meant to join together sun (masculine, active) energy with the moon (feminine, receptive) energy.

The aim of hatha yoga is to focus on your mind and soul through working with your body. It not only improves your physical condition and health but also helps you to relax, concentrate and combat your psychological weaknesses (such as anger, fear, impatience, apathy…). Yoga can give you self- confidence and perseverance in overcoming obstacles in your life. It will energise you and give you inner peace and harmony at the same time. However, these effects do not come immediately. Regular practice and self- discipline is the key to success.
